Hey guys! Are you ready? We’ve got a sweet treat this week…
Baking :) One of the many things I like to do to unwind. Put on your favourite music or TV show and get ready to make something delicious! On my weekend I looked through my baking cupboard and found all the ingredients to make Nanaimo Bars! Nanaimo bars are one of the easiest things to make since you don’t need to actually bake anything. I collected all the ingredients, opened up my laptop and put on Fringe (awesome tv show). Now there are manydifferent variations of the Nanaimo bar. You can use different kind of nuts (or forgo the nuts!) add in flavours, or use different kinds of cookie crumbs. The possibilities are endless. So let’s get started…
The recipe I used is Nanaimo’s “Official” Nanaimo Bar Recipe. Here are the ingredients that you will need for the first layer:
For the second layer you will need:
For the third layer you will need:
Melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler. Once everything is almost melted, remove the bowl from the heat and continue to stir until everything is melted to together. Doing it like this will ensure that you don’t burn the chocolate (which can happen in seconds and you would have to start the layer over again!) When the mixture is cool but still liquid, pour evenly over the second layer and return it to the fridge.
Volia!! A delicious dessert in just over an hour.
Have you tried making Nanaimo Bars at home? What’s your favourite variation?!
