Explore | Sunset with the Sea Lions

Happy humpday!

The other night I decided to head down to Beachcomber Regional Park to watch the sunset, and to see if I could capture some of the sea lions in town for the herring run. Right away, when I stepped out of my vehicle, I could hear a ton of barking coming from the California sea lions. I was excited because I figured they’d all be washed up right on the beach.

But alas, it wasn’t so. They were hidden off in the distance, but there were some other cool things to explore! There were a ton of rock pools, and even some starfish nestled into various cracks in the rock.2

I walked out along the seaweed covered rocks until I hit water. I set up my camera and then enjoyed the magnificent sunset. Then, out of nowhere, four sea lions swam up and joined me in watching the setting sun!4 5

I love watching the sunset from Beachcomber. In fact, I love it so much, we actually included it on our Sunset Map! Where’s your favourite place to watch the setting sun?!
