OK, so as family and close friends know about me, I’m not a very social person. As an introvert, I find it very exhausting to spend all hours of the night (or even day) out in public while socializing. But every now and then I get an urge to head out for a big night out on the town.
This was the case last weekend. A good friend of mine, Sara (not LLN Sarah!), is a jazz musician and invited me and some friends along to a show she was playing at the Cambie. In our heyday in uni, going to the Cambie was a weekly occurrence for me and my group. Mostly because Sara was in a band at the time and played shows almost weekly at the Cambie. It was one of the few “nightlife” spots I truly enjoyed downtown. It was much more relaxed than 241 or Level Two and usually a lot cheaper then The Queens. I also enjoyed the ambiance of the Cambie. I love taking in live music, and the Cambie provides the perfect venue for relaxed shows that showcases local, and visiting, artists.
Sara was filling in for the band South Wick; a jazz band with two singers, three rhythm musicians, and three bass musicians. They played a lot of classic covers, which was great because it really got you into the (jazz) swing of things!
Although I had to cut the night short I had such a good time! I also filled up my month quota of socializing. Kidding. I filled my bi-weekly quota.
Until next time!
