Explore | Taking a Little Me Time at Scenic Westwood Lake

As I mentioned in my post on Vancouver last week, I really enjoy spending time on my own. Don’t get me wrong, I adore hanging out with my family and friends, but I also enjoy spending time by myself. I think it’s a great quality when a person can spend (and enjoy!) time by their self. So this past weekend I walked around Westwood Lake, armed with my camera, my ipod, and me, myself and I!

This is embarrassing to admit, but I’ve never actually walked around Westwood Lake before. I was astonished by the variety of the nature scenes there; clear lake, lake filled with dead trees (which were really cool), forested trails, streams, bluffs with amazing views…DSC_0671 DSC_0634 DSC_0584 DSC_0708

The trail is about 6km around, with a separate area for letting your dog off-leash! It usually takes about an hour to walk the trail, although it took me twice that (I took over 200 photos!!). I walked around the lake counterclockwise which I suggest doing. By going counterclockwise, your journey will end with a steep trail up to the bluffs where you can perch atop the cliffs and look down onto the lake and forest below.DSC_0743 DSC_0745

It was incredible. I just sat down, cleared my mind, and took in the nature around me. It’s easy to forget how blessed we are sometimes. Everyone goes through hardships in their lives and it seems that we humans are always stressed about something. Just remember that if you take an hour for your self, and just be with nature around you, you’ll relieve some of that stress that’s always bogging you down.
