Nanaimo Harbour @ Dusk

I often take living in Nanaimo for granted. There are so many beautiful, subtle things about living in Nanaimo, yet with all the hustle and bustle of working life, I often hibernate on my days off. However, the other night after returning from the Dinghy Dock Pub, I decided to take a stroll along the Nanaimo Harbourfront. HarbourThe sun had just set, and, as people in the photography biz call it, it was magic hour. After strolling along the docks in the harbour, I decided to head up top to stroll along the walkway. I was surprised at the amount of people still milling about, enjoying the warm evening. Even more surprising: the amount of people with ice cream! People with waffle cones and cups, people with sorbet, gelato, and old fashioned ice cream! It was all too tempting for me, so I decided to stop in at Just Desserts.Ice CreamThey had a multitude of choices – it took me about 10 minutes of deliberating to finally decide on the Raspberry Gelato in a waffle cone. And yes, the gelato tasted just as good (if not better) than its picture above! After savouring my evening treat, it was time for me to walk home. I live in the downtown area, so it wasn’t that far to roll myself home after all that gelato!DSC_3525A few years back, they put these lights up around all of the trees that line the downtown, and I have to say it really adds a nice touch to the city centre. I’m a sucker for fairy lights, and my walk home was made that much more enjoyable.

If you’re looking for something to do this Friday night, why not go for a stroll along the Harbourfront. I promise you will not be disappointed!
